Alec Baldwin says Learn from Lively, not Lohan

Alec Baldwin has praised Gossip Girl star Blake Lively for acting as a positive role model for young girls and slammed Lindsay Lohan for wasting this opportunity.  Speaking at a gala commemorating 30 years of PETA, the 30 Rock actor confessed that he would like to see Lively pose for one of the charity’s famous naked campaigns, but for strictly legitimate reasons.

“These younger girls, whether they get naked or not, are the biggest stars, who are the role models,” he told E! News. “I’m a big fan of [Blake Lively]. I think she’s a really really gorgeous woman, very stylish. These are the ones who have all the influence.”  Subtly referring to the troubled Mean Girls star, Baldwin added: “There are certain people who, I won’t name, but they are in and out of rehab, they’re getting arrested for drug use and they’re twittering about their drug problem – it’s a shame.

“I think those people had a real opportunity to fill a certain role in society and they didn’t necessarily step up, but those that are I think it’s a great thing if they get involved with anti-fur or anti-animal testing.”

Blake Beats Penn Badgley in Box Office Battle

Blake’s film, The Town, ruled the box office this weekend, taking in $23,800,000. Meanwhile, Blake’s boyfriend Penn Badgley watched his film, Easy A, come in second at the box office with $18,200,000.

The two films were both geared at completely different audiences: The Town is a gritty Ben Affleck-directed crime thriller set in Boston while Easy A is a teen comedy starring Emma Stone. The two films opened on the same weekend, sparking a friendly box office competition between the two lovers.

Blake Lively’s Topshop Obsession

Blake has revealed having popular British fashion chain Topshop in New York has ”changed her life”. Blake Lively thinks Topshop has changed her life. The ‘Gossip Girl’ actress was thrilled when the British fashion chain launched a store in New York, and admits it has had a dramatic effect on the way she dresses. She said: “I love layering things. Autumn is always my favourite time of the year to get dressed. Ever since Topshop came to New York – it’s changed my life!”

As well as layering, there are several other trends Blake is enjoying at the moment. She said: “I really like the new craze with darker, studded and ripped up things. I like things that are feminine but still have an edge.” However, the 23-year-old beauty still looks to her stylish ‘Gossip Girl’ character Serena van der Woodsen for fashion tips. She explained: “I love playing Serena. I think her wardrobe is my favourite part – she dresses really well!

“I’m guilty of going to a fitting for Serena, then going out to buy the exact same outfit. It’s a problem for my bank account. “My best friend on set is probably my hairstylist! They do amazing things. But the way I do my hair in the morning before heading to the set of ‘Gossip Girl’ is to just twist it up in a little ballerina bun. When it’s undone again, it’s just wavy.”

Blake on Marie Claire Cover

Move over, Leighton Meester! Blake Lively has a new BFF on the Upper East Side: Anna Wintour, the notorious Vogue editor-in-chief who reportedly inspired the roman à clef The Devil Wears Prada!

The 23-year-old Gossip Girl actress has appeared on the fashion mag’s cover twice in two years — opens up about her new friendship with the famed fashion editor in the October issue of Marie Claire UK.

“I was speaking with Anna Wintour and we were just talking about different fashion houses and I said, ‘I love Chanel,’ and she said, ‘You should come with me to the show,'” Lively recalls. “I also said I loved Dior. She said, “Okay, well I’ll take you to the Chanel and Dior shows and we’ll meet with Karl [Lagerfeld] and John [Galliano] afterwards.’ Insane!”

And Lively says she’s learned a lot from sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week with the 60-year-old editor.

“I’ve always loved fashion. That’s why I don’t use a stylist,” Lively tells the mag. “It’s such an expression of self.”

Though she’s happy to dish on her newfound friendship, Lively stays mum on her relationship with costar Penn Badgley, 23.

“At the end of the day, you’re just in any relationship. How does anybody go to work every day and come home?” she asks. “You just do it and it either works or it doesn’t.”

Blake Lively: Actually? I’m really shy

Blake Lively’s “Gossip Girl” alter-ego Serena Van der Woodsen is the type of girl who eagerly baits the paparazzi, but Lively herself is far from the type who desires that kind of attention.

So when you see the 23-year-old actress on the September cover of Interview magazine wearing the look of a handcuffed femme fatale, don’t assume she’s as bold as that image.

“I’m actually a very shy person,” Lively told interviewer Ben Affleck in the magazine’s cover story. “That’s a big secret, so don’t tell.”

Despite the bubbly and charismatic characters she’s played on television and in movies, it was her upbringing that forced the star out of her shell. Lively’s parents brought her to acting classes with them, which she said helped her break out of her comfort zone.

“It’s like nature versus nurture: I’m naturally very shy, but I was brought up in a way where I had to get up and get out of that,” Lively said.

The young actress has stayed grounded since making her acting debut at 17 in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” Growing up in Burbank, California with a family full of actors showed her how to live a relatively normal life under the spotlight of stardom.

“I don’t feel like I ever had any sort of Hollywood upbringing,” Lively said. “So I don’t remember there ever being a downside.”

But there’s also a clear upside: Free food.

“I actually think that was the reason I got into acting,” she told Affleck, who directed the actress in the upcoming movie “The Town,” in which he also acts, alongside Jon Hamm and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona’s” Rebecca Hall.

Lively plays Krista, a 29-year-old single mother who deals drugs in Boston.

A far cry from the Upper East Side, no?

Blake Lively: I want a risky career

Blake Lively says she doesn’t want to “play it safe” with her career.

The star shot to fame playing New York socialite Serena Van Der Woodsen on the popular American television show Gossip Girl. Although Blake is grateful to have been given her big break on the small screen, she is keen to prove she is a serious actress and doesn’t want to be typecast.

The star can currently be seen in The Town, in which she plays a drug-addicted single mother alongside Ben Affleck. Blake jumped at the opportunity to take on the challenging role and hopes it will help cement her Hollywood status.

“I’m on a very commercial show, so the last thing I want to do is a commercial movie,” Blake explained in the October issue of Marie Claire magazine. “I wanna take risks, I don’t wanna play it safe. I mean, I could probably make more money if I did more commercial projects. It would be nice to buy an apartment but I’m 22 and I don’t need to yet.

“I live in New York City. So, I’m able to differentiate between what I want and need and what I want more is to do great roles.”

Blake has hinted she is keen to focus on her movie career full-time and has cast doubts over her future on Gossip Girl. Although the star still has a few more seasons left on her contract, she admits she is unsure if the show will last that long.

“We have six-year contracts but who knows how long TV shows ever run,” Blake said. “They don’t always go the full season contracted… We’re in season four.”

Blake in Interview!

Serena van der Woodsen: beautiful, glamorous, elegant young woman about town; fashionable and firm but fair ruler of Manhattan’s young social elite; wooer of hearts and slayer of men with names like Trip van der Bilt; tabloid magnet and off-and-on dater of her off-and-on step-brother-and nothing even remotely like Blake Lively. For three seasons, Lively-owner of the most talked-about hair in television since the heady days of the early-Friends Jennifer Aniston shag-has played van der Woodsen on the CW’s hit series Gossip Girl, guiding her through myriad breakups, scandals, falls from grace, and spirited comebacks amidst the show’s hyperreal vision of misspent youth in uptown New York. Now as the series enters its fourth season, the plot for Serena has begun to further thicken. Will she return from her summer vacation in Paris as a new woman, or out to settle old scores? Will she get back together with Dan? Will Nate come calling once again? What will she wear? But just as the arc of Serena’s sordid life on Gossip Girl has brought about new priorities, changes, and directions, so too has the trajectory of Lively’s career away from the show signaled a shift in direction for the 23-year-old actress.

Blake vs Scarlett Johansson

Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson are battling it out for the chance to star in Gravity.

A film about astronauts repairing the Hubble telescope who are hit with an avalanche of satellite junk. In a plot akin to “Cast Away,” the surviving astronaut must fight her way back to Earth, where she hopes to reunite with her daughter.

The project originally was set up at Universal as a vehicle for Angelina Jolie, but it moved to Warners, where it hit debris of its own: Jolie left the project, partially because of the studio’s balking at paying her £10 million fee.

Both actresses are repped by CAA. Blake is also is repped by Untitled Entertainment.
